where's the Top Sites gone? Aug 2020 update
Hi,
Now when i click the address bar at the top I'm met with a Blank Screen whereas before the update I had my Top Sites "pinned" for quick & easy access. I now have to faff around going into the bookmarks which is pointless when this feature was working perfectly well, why remove it?
Also when i start Firefox fresh i see small icons for the top sites but they're so small the URL/Name doesn't show up so i have no idea which icons lead to which sites. These need to be bigger like post update and put back line they were before.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. This update is a massive fail, please revert ASAP.

Hi
If you wish to add a site you are viewing as a top site, open the menu and select "Add to top sites".
I hope that this helps.
No that doesn't do anything in the new update, theta the problem, i had all my Top Sites already stored but now they don't appear, read the post my issue is quite clear.
Also what's the Back Button gone!?! This update is atrocious, sorry to be so blunt but to remove two good features for no reason whatsoever is just a plain awful design choice.
Somehow you managed to keep "add to top sites" without actually giving us a way to USE those top sites. It used to be an easy swipe. Now I (and I am a very experienced tech user) have no idea.

Exactly. Previously, I clicked on the address bar and selected a top site. Now I need to access the tab view, delete the previous site/tab, click + (new tab) and then select a top site. Notice that now I also need to delete each tab I visit, otherwise they will keep accumulating. And that I need to explicitly add a top site, since the suggested top sites based on my usage was also removed. WTH!
The previous "home page" not only had the top sites, but also favorites and history. Now it's only top sites in tiny icons (why?!) and "collections", a feature I cannot understand its usage, since it does not exist in the desktop version (why collecting websites only in the mobile is a good idea?).
Oh, and the tab view is now worse (vertical lines), because you need to change every good aspect of the browser!
I am baffled and cannot understand such changes. Thank god I was able to revert to previous version and restore my sanity while I find a new browser.

This update is a disaster on android.
A good way to get us all to use chrome!
You did test, right, before release? You have automated user interface tests, right?

Is this the new top sites page?
How is this an improvement?
Wait, you've broken the ability to add an image, too, so no screenshot for you!
Lots of new funtionality in this release, I see...
Blundering through trying to figure out how this new version works. I really miss the old functionality of the address bar that brought up top sites, favorites and had tabs for bookmarks.
Also related is a way to organize said items. The new bookmarks is a disaster with no possible way to reorder the pages positioning.
Must I quote Umbridge form Harry Potter "Progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged". Or more bluntly making changes to something that is functioning well under the guise of "improvement" should be discouraged. So many tech companies are making radical changes often it seems just to justify paying developers salaries. Why not fix bugs and improve softwarere & do testing on a company side instead of pushing off testing on your customers.... I"m sick of being a guinea pig for the tech industry.

Can't find my top sites. Not sure if they disappeared or got even smaller so I just can't see them. You managed to take the ease of use from Firefox. Bad bad idea.
Horrible, pinned top sites disappeared and there is a tiny resemblance only if I close all the tabs and start fresh, but there's stuff there I don't want, nor did I put it there. In order to access bookmarks I have to use the menu button? What sense does that make? The features that kept me using Firefox all these years are gone, I can start using another browser now and build a history with it.

For cryin' out loud, Top Sites WASN'T broken! Why change this handy feature?? Speaking of that, just HOW do I find my top sites now???????
Bring back my stuff you miserable pricks!
My top sites are also missing after app update. How can I bring them back?

If you, like myself, had top sites based on usage (there is, you have not manually pinned them), they are gone, since the update loses all history from top sites.
Also: you cannot access top sites by clicking in the address bar. You now must go to the tabs view and click + (new tab).
I don't understand how people from beta testing didn't notice those issues.
BTW, I just explained the reasons why I move to the previous version while I try to find a new browser. What a shame!
Just in case you people at Mozilla haven't figured it out yet by all the posts. I'll add mine. Your latest Android update sucks. You illiminated: 1. BACK-FORWARD <> BUTTONS 2. TABS AT THE TOP 3. HOME BUTTON 4. NO WAY TO SWITCH TO VOICE COMMAND EASILY Guess what Android Web browser still has all these features? OPERA Fix the problems or I amd many others will unistall this garbage permanently.
I started this thread so I will bring it back to the original question... there is an option to add a site to 'Top Sites' but there doesn't seem to be any obvious way to display them or use them. That used to happen when I clicked on the address bar. But now all I get is a blank screen with 'Scan' and 'Shortcuts' on it. Neither lead me to Top Sites but there's a huge amount of screen real estate that could be used to display them - it's as if someone forgot to add it, or there's a switch to set to display it. I added mine to a Collection but I can't work out how to use that either! It seems the only way is to click on tabs, add a tab and then choose a top site or a collection. Intuitive it isn't. I just want an easy way to add a site to a set of favourites and be able to display that set and use them. Someone tell me how...?
But while we're at it... why is there a forward button but no back button. Surely the reverse makes more sense?? We can't actually go forward until we have gone back?
I must be missing something about this release. There's surely some good stuff in there, but I am struggling so hard to work out how to use the basics that I have no idea what the good stuff might be.

Don't they realize some things should have been left alone. Were bookmarks and top sites in such need to be messed with for absolutely no reason? I have over 200 bookmarks in order. I have no idea where anything is. Thanks for your post.
Apart from generally less usability by breaking something that wasn't broken, I have real issues with the size of the hamburger /// home menu - it's very small and adjacent to other clickable items - and I get the wrong thing more often than not -- adding more clicks to get to the bookmarks is a *bad thing*. If it were not for sharing bookmarks with PC , this release is a good reason to change to Chrome. I would not recommend it to someone only using the app.
Now , with FF for Android 81, it's even worse. In FF80, upon address bar activation, there was a blank (black) screen which could be used to show e.g. Top Sites . With FF81, now we can see dimmed web page image which has ZERO VALUE. Guys, please, make something useful with that screen. This is valuable UI element and wasting it to show nothing or show dimmed image of the web page you are about to leave, is just shameful.
