The title says it all.

I sat down this morning with planned work to do on my computer and when I tried to log into a site found there was no automatic completion of username and password.

Checking my saved logins and passwords, I found there were no saved logins and passwords!

Apparently, this is an improvement to Firefox called Lockwise!

So, where do I find my saved logins and passwords, please?

And how do I get back to a version of Firefox which doesn't use Lockwise?

Many versions of Quantum Firefox are not backward compatible. Let's work on the problem first.

What about the rest of your profile? Settings, bookmarks, history, passwords . . . .

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles {web link} I use a Legacy add-on that makes backups of my user profile, Just In Case. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with the current Firefox.

Every now and then, open the profile folder and create a copy of the current profile as is to another location on your hard drive. This way you will have a backup.

If you do this each day, you will not lose much data. This should be done with Firefox Closed.

Note: In case you need to restore from these backups, you may need to overwrite old or corrupted files.

Firefox 80+ has a logins-backup.json file that can be used in case of issues with logins.json, so you can check if you can find this file.

Bookmarks all seem to to be there. Saved passwords not there. Sites I stay logged into I am still logged into. History for today and yesterday there.

Restarting in safe mode, saved logins and passwords still not there.
