With 98 update I can't move tabs nor drag from the URL bar to create a bookmark.

I used to be able to move tabs and arrange them in any order, including opening a tab in a new window and then dragging it back to the 'parent' window. I cannot do that any longer.

Also, I could always drag the site icon from the URL bar and create a bookmark on the Bookmarks Tool Bar or within a folder that is on that Bar.

One of these issues would be bad for my workflow, but both make this a deal breaker for me to continue using Firefox which I have been using for decades.

Either fix what you broke or allow me to rollback to 96.

You can drag the tab to the Bookmarks Toolbar or to a specific folder to bookmark this tab. The same with dragging a tab that you teared off to a new window, dragging the tab to the a position on the tab bar should work to undo the tear off and close the window.

Hi Thanks for the reply but that doesn't work.

I have dragged tabs and bookmarks and they are not budging, AT ALL. Nor is the ability to drag the URL icon onto the toolbar or into a tab.

I'm not a newbie and there is just no ability for me to reorder tabs by dragging or make a bookmark by dragging in FF 98 .

And as I read forums looking for help, this appears to have happened a year or so ago as well.

Make sure toolbars like the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible. Open the Customize window and set what toolbars (Show/Hide Toolbars) and toolbar items to display.

  • Right-click empty toolbar area -> Customize
  • "3-bar" menu button -> Customize
  • View -> Toolbars
    *you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to show the hidden Menu Bar temporarily
  • check that "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • if "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize palette to the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window to the toolbar
  • if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button in the Customize palette window to restore the default toolbar set.

Hi

Again, thanks for the reply, but none of the reply is related to my problem.

The bookmarks toolbar IS always visible. I simply cannot drag FROM the url bar TO the bookmarks toolbar AS I HAVE BEEN DOING FOR YEARS.

I also cannot rearrange all of the open tabs in the order that I want AS I HAVE BEEN DOING FOR YEARS.

Both of these were simple drag and drop operations.
