Restore the previous session from the Firefox menu
The recently updated version of Firefox (installed on 4/14/22) does not include the prior functionality to restore my previous session. (Menu > History > Restore previous session or previously closed tabs.)
I do see a menu option under History for "Recently closed tabs," but it's grayed out.
The issue that precipitated this is that the new install obliterated my previous session. None of my open tabs are visible.
Additionally, the online help related to this topic is outdated.
P.S. Moving the furniture around isn't a helpful software update. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Reboot the computer.
If the problem is still there,
Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Is session restore enabled and working properly ?
In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes".
- do not clear the Browsing History
- Settings -> Privacy & Security
Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history":
[X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" -> Settings - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/delete-browsing-search-download-history-firefox
- clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
- clearing "Cookies" will remove all cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep
