For quite a long time I have had trouble moving messages from the INBOX or SENT to my local folders. It seems random. I can select 100 messages and move them. Then do another set of messages, then upon trying another set to move nothing happens. The only fix, which works every time, is to close Thunderbird, restart, then do the move. If I do multiple moves again, the problem recurs. I compact my folders every month or so. This has happened for many many versions of Thunderbird. I am currently using 102.13.0 (64-bit) thanks Alan

You might try checking synchronization&storage to confirm the folders can be used offline. then, click file>offline>download and then, while offline, copy from the IMAP folder to the local folder.
