Since 12th December Thunderbird 115.5.2 will not connect to the Protonmail server. I have not touched the settings. The screenshot shows the settings and I notice the Port is not the default but am reluctant to change that for fear of messing things even more. Running on macOS Big Sur 11.7.10.

127.0.0.1 is a local loopback address (used in this case because the ProtonMail bridge is a proxy service that runs on your local machine). Make sure the bridge service is running; if the issue persists follow the steps in this article. There is also a dedicated ProtonMail client.

Hi MU, it seems you attempted to help but have been thwarted. Thanks for trying. I think I will uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird (which continues to work on my Linux desktop) on the Mac and see if that works.

Cheers,

Jim K.
