Thunderbird opens multiple tabs on the startup and crushes

When I open Thunderbird it opens multiple tabs while attempting to get emails from an email folders. It doesn't allow to access any other email folders while trying to get messages from that particular folder and it eventually crushes.

1. What version are you using? 2. Please post your crash IDs here. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter-tb#w_viewing-reports-outside-of-thunderbird has instructions for finding them.
