I can't organise my bookmarks

A newly saved bookmark appears under 'recently' bookmarked but not in the folder I selected. When I open the Library window I can only find it under 'recently' bookmarked. The 'move' option in the Library window doesn't work. I get no error messages at any stage, it just doesn't save things where I ask.

(In general I don't like the fact that searching the Library for a bookmark doesn't tell me what folder it's in.)

Today, when I created a new folder in the Library window, it didn't appear in the drop-down menu when saving a new bookmark.

It's been like this for a while.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  1. Open the bookmark in a tab with a left-click or a middle-click.
  2. Click the yellow (blue on a Mac) star on the location bar to open the "Edit This Bookmark" window.
  3. Click the arrow at the far right of the Folder field to see the folder in which that bookmark is stored.
