When I go to a website by typing it in, the address I typed stays in the address bar. When I click on a link or a bookmark to get to another page, the original thing I typed is still up there, no matter where I go.

Also, I can't use the back button. I have to go to History to go back.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

This can also be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
