How do I import Safari (ver.5.1.2) bookmarks into Firefox? (ver. 9.0.1)?
I wish to import Safari (ver.5.1.2) bookmarks into Firefox? (ver. 9.0.1). What I have found on the Internet usually refers to an Import option under the File menu in Firefox, which does not appear in Firefox on my Mac running Lion OS.

You can find the Import menu entry in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)
- Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Data from Another Browser

There is no Import & Backup option there: Firefox 9.01 on a mac OS 10.5.8.
Import and Backup is the third icon with the star on the toolbar in the Library (Bookmarks Manager).
Yes, in my Firefox library, there is no Import & Backup icon, no third starred icon. It's simply not there. The only thing I can think of is that, a long time ago, I had already imported Safari bookmarks - they're in their own folder. But I want to import all my current Safari bookmarks, and why that would make the Import & Backup option disappear doesn't make much sense.
Can you attach a screenshot of that Library window?
Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Did you click that last toolbar button with the drop marker that looks like a star?
That should be the import and backup button.
At the top of the Bookmarks Manager there are 3 buttons (Organize, Views, Import & Backup) on the toolbar next to the Back and Forward button.
- The first (gear) button is the Organize button with basic edit menu items for bookmarks
- The second button is the Views button that allows to change the sort order for viewing purposes (doesn't sort permanently).
- The third (star) button is the Import and Backup button that allows to backup and restore a JSON backup and import and export an HTML backup and import bookmarks from other browsers.
Doh! Thank you, that was it.
You're welcome
