I have a "My Yahoo!" page with a "Stock Portfolios" pane. That pane normally refreshes itself once an hour. The pane also has a Refresh link that refreshes the pane immediately. Since installing Firefox 12, that pane does not refresh itself and the Refresh link does not cause the pane to refresh either. It refreshes fine if I Ctrl-R or Ctrl-Shift-R or click the refresh icon in the Firefox address bar.

My "My Yahoo!" page also has news panes for Yahoo Local News - Sun Sentinel and MiamiHerald.com: Today's Top Stories. Those used to refresh themselves occasionally (hourly?), but now they don't seem to unless I manually refresh. Also, the Miami Herald pane is showing the same articles for a week now, but for all I know that's a Miami Herald problem.

Yes, this is an issue that we are working on. Using shift + reload is the workaround as you've discovered. This should be fixed in the next version of Firefox which comes out June 5th. Here's the article about the issue - Some websites or shopping carts don't update

Okay, thank you.

Alas, I have updated to Firefox 13 today, but I am still having exactly the same problem with the My Yahoo! page. However, I have now tried that page in Chrome and I have the same problem in Chrome. This makes me think that the problem is with the Yahoo! code, or perhaps with the way the Yahoo! code is interacting with new features of Firefox and Chrome.

I was able to find some questions about this in the Yahoo! area, but no answers, except for several "me too" replies. Perhaps I will mount an expedition there. Or perhaps there is similar functionality available elsewhere.

Found that the problem also exists with Internet Explorer and Safari, as well as Firefox and Chrome. Sounds like a Yahoo problem to me also. Can't seem to get their attention.

A workaround that works well for me is to install the Reload Every add-in. With this add-in you can specify which tabs you want to automatically refresh and how often. The only downside is that you have to reinitialize Reload Every each time you start Firefox.
