Seemingly, Thunderbird is "hanging up" on me. That is, very frequently, I get the message, "Thunderbird not responding." If I wait long enough, the program resumes, but I suggest that this should not happen. Most likely anti virus related. Try disabling email scanning in uyour anti virus program. Then exclude the Thunderbird profile from "on access" scanning by your anti virus.
