Since I downloaded the updated version of Firefox I have noticed that whenever I have more than 4 tabs open the tab bar contracts and expands, making it look like it's shaking. This makes trying to close the tabs using the x button difficult. If you have any solutions to this problem please let me know.

Shaking Tabs issue Solved. I had the same issue on Firefox 29.0.1. I disabled "Big New Tab Button 2" add-on to fix the issue. Big New Tab Button 2 filled up the empty tab area with one long new tab button as opposed to the small default "+" button just to the right of the newest tab. Try disabling any add-ons that might interfere with the expansion of new tabs.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
