I've always clicked on the white stars to the left of the messages to change them to yellow to denote an important email, leaving others white. Tonight all of the stars, both yellow and white, have disappeared. I don't remember clicking on anything differently and have not knowingly made any alterations to Thunderbird. I've been unable to find any answer as to why this happened or how to bring the stars back. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Did the entire column where the stars usually are disappear? If so right click the header bar and from the drop down list check Starred to make that column show again. Another way of getting to this drop down list is the small icon at the far right end of the header bar. Clicking that icon make the column list appear.
