Unable to download any file of any type - Firefox 32.0.3 / OS X Mavericks / Controlled user account
Hi,
whenever I try to download any file of any type with Firefox 32.0.3 on my iMac running OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 logged in with a controlled user account, I get a message "failed" in the downloads window. The downloaded files are always empty and I have to remove them manually. For information, I've installed Firefox using my controlled user account.
If I log in with an admin user account, Firefox successfully downloads the files.
Your help is much appreciated !

Thank you for your effort and answer. I forgot to close this issue !
This is how I solved it : I re-installed the whole system and I don't use a controlled user account any more. Firefox work's just fine !
I think that your last answer could have solved the problem, but now that my system is stable, I won't try it !
Thank's again.

Hello,
One possibility that files cannot be saved with controlled user accounts is that they do not have the proper permissions for the folder. Please make sure that the folder has "write" permissions set for the user accounts.

Hi,
thank you for your answer and advice. I've checked the permissions for the "Downloads" folder, and my controlled user account has the "Read and write" permissions...

Do you have any security (anti-virus) software what might be blocking the files?
Hi,
thank you for your reply. I know it's not OK, but I'm not using any antivirus or firewall software...

It is likely that your Mac has a firewall installed that you may not be aware of, but usually only third-party anti-virus software could possibly cause issues.
It is also possible that you do not have the proper permissions for the temp folder that Firefox uses to start the download in the background.
Try to repair the disk permissions:
