Do I have to uninstall Silverlight if I am going to get the latest version?

I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser. I am willing to uninstall the older version and install the newest version, but I have heard that there can be problems with the new installation. I have the required OS, etc, but it says that I have to have the Firefox Extended Support Release and I don't know what that is. I am not sure that I have it or not. Silverlight works now, but it keeps on asking me to enable it. Should I just keep using what I have? what do y'all think>

Hello Traveler61, you can update to latest firefox from Help > About Firefox OR from 3-bar menu (in your right) > question mark > About Firefox

you don't have to uninstall the older version and install the new one :-)

you have 38.x firefox version now, so definitely you can upgrade to latest 39.0 .

If Silverlight works fine, leave it as it is, if not you can update Silverlight after firefox update.
