I am using the follow steps to update Firefox using mar file.

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Software_Update:Manually_Installing_a_MAR_file

It's updating Firefox as expected. Help > About Firefox also show the latest version after the update.

However, Control Panel still shows the older version in the list of installed software. It should be updating the version in the control panel to reflect the latest version.

Thanks, but that does not answer my question. Why .mar updated method does not update the version? I thought the mar file update should be the same update that the maintenance service uses?
