about.config in address bar leads to search. I can't change configurations.
I want to temporarily disable my browser cache while developing and unfortunately I have not been able to navigate to about.config after the first time I accessed it and "promised to be careful".
To be clear I am entering the string 'about.config' in the address bar. Below are the events of the problem:
1. Navigated to about.config (1st time) 2. Agreed to be careful 3. To access cache setting I entered 'browser.cache.disk.enable' in address bar 4. Default search took place and my ISP's not found page appeared "Sorry, the website browser.cache.disk.enable cannot be found" 5. Attempted to return to about.config and ISP's not found page appears now "Sorry, the website about.config cannot be found. Did you mean www.abt.com?"
To be further clear I have not allowed default trailing forward slashes to appear. I made sure that I pasted ONLY the string and no prepend with http:// or https://.

Update:
I am mistaken about the about.config, I have corrected to about:config. I was able to access the page and toggled browser.cache.disk.enable. All is ok!

One about: url to remember is about:about as it lists all valid about: urls for that Firefox version.
Note that you can also disable the disk cache and only leave the memory cache by using Private Browsing mode.
You can use an extension to get Private Browsing mode support per tab.
Private Browsing mode tabs get a dashed underline You can toggle Private Browsing mode on/off via the right-click context menu of a tab
