ensure that you are using the ALL folders view in View menu (alt+V) > folders

Right click each inbox and select properties. What is the size on disk?

Size is 4 gb, sounds like a lot to me..

Does it change at all if you right click and select compact?

If no. Click the two monitors in the bottom left of Thunderbird to go into offline mode, leave it be for 10 minutes, or preferable a half an hour while you have lunch;) Right click and try compact again.

Hi Matt, still no results, very strange all. but I got myself postbox in the meantime and imported all my mail in it, so at least I can work with it again..
