My service provider (hotmail) has changed my password, but I cannot find any way to edit my password on thunderbird mail. I do not want to create a new account. You have plenty of advice on how to create a password in a new account, but not how to replace the existing one if it changes and you can no longer get into your mail!

In the main menu, Tools|Options|Security|Passwords->Saved Passwords

Press alt or F10 to see the menu if you don't already have one.

Set it to show passwords. Double-click or right-click the offending password and you'll be invited to edit it.

Note that it should be listed at least twice, once for the incoming server and again for the outgoing server. Use the filter/search box at the top to locate all instances of it.
