The plugin is listed in the addons list, but as permanently disabled, so there is no point to having it. I am either incompetent (likely, imho) or there seems to be no way to just delete it, which is what I want to do.

So, please, how can I remove this plugin, or, if it has actually been removed, the inclusion of it in the addons list?

Since it's disabled, I cannot access it to remove it via any inherent uninstall feature the JDK may possess.

Hi   !
Plugins are installed on your system   (Windows);   that's why you won't find a 'remove' button. To see which plugins are installed on your system and which are used by Firefox: Type in the address bar :   about:plugins

Neither in Control Panel is there an option to remove the JDK. Java itself is there, and I am tempted to remove it, but since doing so would break the web, I am not going to.

So I am left with my original dilemma: how do I remove the JDK?

If you are really adamant to do this,   all I can come up with is this:

Hi uzir, Do not worry Happy112 is correct you will not break the web or Firefox by uninstalling Java.

There is a slim possibility something may stop working. Most of us will not need or use Java, but I can not be sure what you do with your computer and either you may sometimes use Java - tell us what do you need it for ?

Do not confuse Java with JavaScript. JavaScript is used a lot. Firefox now makes users jump through hoops and use an add-on or "about:config" to disable javascript now. It used to be easier but that was breaking Firefox functionality and website features.

This article includes guidance on removing Java

There is also a collection of useful blogs from Mozilla but I am posting from a phone and do not have the links to hand.
