Mozilla includes under Useful Add-ons (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-gmail) Google Contacts to sync with Thunderbird. That app appears to be dead and gContactSync doesn't work well either. For example, when setting contacts to sync in both directions and making changes in Thunderbird, gContactSync doesn't sync those changes with the Google account. What other options are available?

gContactSync works well for me, including 2-way sync. Make sure to read the add-on FAQ.
