I am downloading a 2.2GB file , but after every 20-40 seconds the downloading freezes or shows 0 bytes loaded. If I wait for sometime it shows FAILED. Often , it works well but when net speed reaches >125kbps it stops although doesn't show paused or anything else.

Did you check the available space on C: as well as Windows Event log messages?

Firefox temporary saves downloaded data to a temporary folder - which is usually on C: in Windows - before copying that to the final destination that may be D: or elsewhere. When the temporary space is full, downloads may stall, partials downloads may be deleted afterwards (so nothing may seem wrong), and event logs may contain some information for the event.
