Firefox 59 (64bit), windows 10, desktop shortcut to Firefox home page wanted. I thought this sort of detail happened automatically on installation. Am I so out of date?

Hi, it always works. So a Windows Issue I would think. It shows here from original post that your on version 59.0.2 you can do a install over top but 1st do this :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.3 with a Full Version Installer

You need the above to be compatible with Windows Spring Update. Note fyi : Windows Spring Update out April 30th so back up stuff you want to save to another drive. https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft-announces-windows-10-april-2018-update get Media Creation tool and Update or wait.

You can also use search for Firefox.exe then Right Click and Pin to Start Menu then can make a duplicate and drag to desktop or from Search can Pin to the Task Bar.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

HI, no that sometimes fails to install, especially in Win10 for some reason. Please open Explorer and go to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox and find Firefox.exe and drag to where you want the shortcut or Click it then Right Click it and Pin to Start and or Pin to Task Bar.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

This is where I would start - similar to Pkshadow's last suggestion. Left click on Start; Firefox should be in your Program list if correctly installed. Right click on Firefox, Left click on More; Left click on Pin to Task Bar. Make sure Task Bar is not hidden - click at bottom of page if necessary. You could actually check this first.
