Perhaps the issue is that Thunderbird creates Version 1 vCard files and Samsung use a much later version. I have no idea really, that is just a guess.

vCard version 4 is being used in most programs now. THunderbird is sadly old fashioned in this.

The export also failed for me. I noticed that the exported address files came out as Vcalendar files not vCard files despite having carefully specified them as vCard. Maybe this caused the failure ? How can I correct this or work around it.

TB 60 exports address books in vCard v. 2.1. With the MoreFunctionsForAddressBook add-on installed, address books can be exported in vCard v. 2 or v.3 (in the add-on Preferences). Version 3 is needed to import to iCloud, and may be sufficient for other systems.
