I have 1 email that cam in 6 days ago that was marked junk by thunderbird. It is not junk and I have told it so at least 5 times or more a day since I received it. I have reset the training data to reteach it that it is not junk yet every time thunderbird gets new mail or I move on to other things I come back and the same email is again marked as junk. I also logged in to look at the email on the web to see if it was a setting there that needed to be reset. I found nothing amiss there. What have I missed and how many times will I need to do this before the program believes me it isn't junk. Don't want to loose the email.

You sure it is Thunderbird doing this? Yahoo is well known to play this game. If you move this email out of the inbox and into a different folder does it still get marked as junk? What do you have the Thunderbird junk controls set to do? Mark as junk and leave in the inbox or mark as junk and move to a junk folder?
