Firefox monitor?

I’m trying to figure out how Firefox monitor got my mother’s email in which she received an email about a data breach of over 40 million users. I know my mother and she’s never signed up or used the monitor that includes never giving Mozilla her email address. I’m thinking the email is a phony because I never received any notification and I’m not signed up either nor have I given my email. I need to know if that email was a fake so I can report it.

Hi Supersizeme, if your mother never signed up for a newsletter or a Firefox Account, it would be bizarre to get an email from Mozilla.

To check on whether her email address was involved in a breach -- are there any that haven't been by now? -- you can search directly on either of these sites:
