Recently I bought a new PC, installed Firefox on it, logged in with my account and synced all of my bookmarks and add-ons, etc My wife is now working on my old PC, therefore I removed all old programs and installed just the basic stuff she always uses. She's also created her own account after installing the latest version of Firefox. I didn't rename the computer, only her Windows useraccount. Also created a new profile, that doesn't help either because bookmarks keep getting synced between two different accounts each on a different PC and I don't seem to get it right. Looked at the different devices that should sync under each account, that seems to be OK. But everytime I make a change in the bookmarks on one of the PC's with it's own account the other one also gets changed under that different account. Can someone help me by taking it step by step, so I can understand what it is I am doing wrong?

What I did is remove it all... Not only the firefox app itself but also the mozilla folder that is left behind in the roaming/appdata area. This way all user data (bookmarks, settings, etc) gets also lost, but it seems to be the only way to get rid of my sync-problem. Now I could log in on both PC's each with it's own account. Newly added bookmarks don't get synced now between the two devices and that's what I was looking for. So basically the fact that not all user data (eg the %appdata%-folder) is being deleted once you remove firefox is what caused my problem. So opening new accounts wasn't necessary.

Thnx for getting me on the right track!

Have you shut down sync on all devices?

Yes I did now. Means in settings the only connected device is the PC itself that Firefox is running under each of the accounts.

So : my PC -> my account , my wife's PC -> her account.

Is that OK?

Unless you want to share data with each other, or other systems, you don't need to use sync.

We both wat to use sync with firefox on our iPhones...

I would suggest closing the original sink. then opening a new account for each user. Make sure that you remove any data you don't want on account.

So I do have to delete all old data before I can start syncing in two different accounts? If I sort the data in one Firefox Sync account will it be lost in the other as well?
