The screenshot option disappeared from my drop down menu. How do I get it back?

My screenshot feature disappeared. It's not on the drop down menu, nor does right-clicking the web page bring up that option. My configuration settings show "extensions.screenshots.disabled" as "false," which it should be. I tried switching to "true" and back with no luck. There is no mention in Firefox features of this issue. I was using this screenshot feature frequently and would love to get it back. Firefox Version 71.0. Windows 10. Any advice appreciated.

Do you still see the screenshot extension in the "browser\features" folder in the Firefox program folder and does the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page show the extension under Firefox Features ?

Thank you for your reply. I cannot find a program file folder for Firefox on my C drive. (Did Windows 10 hide it somewhere?) Screenshots is not listed as an extension under Firefox features in Troubleshooting Information. UPDATE: I did find a Firefox features folder hidden in a Windows browser folder and it reads "corrupted." Should I just do a delete and reinstall of Firefox?

You can find the Firefox program folder listed on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page under "Application Basics -> Application Binary".

What security software do you have ? Could it be possible that your security software has remove this folder or files in it?

If you do a Firefox reinstall then make sure to remove current Firefox program folder(s).

You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (71.0) in all languages and all operating systems here:

Thanks for your reply. I see a profile folder in Troubleshooting/application basics, as you suggested, but there is no folder in it for browsing and/or features. I tried refreshing firefox and I still don't have the screenshot feature. I've been using Spybot anti-virus program for years with no previous issues, so I doubt that it is responsible for my screenshot disappearing. I think I probably lost it after the last Firefox update. With no other obvious choices available, I will probably try a re-install, but I'm not sure how to delete the older firefox program folders afterwards, as they seem to be in different locations.

browser\features is not located in the profile folder, but is located in the Firefox program folder where Firefox is installed (Application Binary on the troubleshooting information page).

Normally:

  • (64-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (32-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Nothing was working to get my screenshots back, so I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, and my screenshot feature is back. I was able to transfer my 100+ bookmarks from a HTML file that I had backed them up to, and it only took me a minute to re-customize my Firefox settings. So I'm good to go until the next mystery....
