Somewhere, long ago, I chose to be notified/challenged if I attempted to close a window having multiple tabs. Now, I would like to undo that choice, but I cannot find where to do so! Can anyone tell me how to find the place to undo that setting?

You can check browser.tabs.warnOnClose and other warn prefs on the about:config page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Note that current Firefox releases do not show a warning if you close less tabs than the maximum number of tabs you can restore via "History -> Recently Closed Tabs/Windows" as set via the browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo and browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo prefs.
