I have one particular PDF file that is very difficult to upload to Google Drive, using Firefox 98.02 on my Mac Book Air 2017 laptop, running OS 11.6. The upload says that it started, but never finishes. This particular PDF file uploads fine using the Safari web browser. It uploads fine using the Google Drive on the Desktop software. I've read the troubleshooting advice, cleared all history, cleared the cache, tried safe mode, refreshed the browser, reinstalled the browser, etc. etc. I might get this file to successfully upload once after doing all that, but after that it won't upload again. This behavior bothers me greatly. I seek advice here. Numerous other PDF files don't have this problem.

Show us a screenshot of the issue. Are you getting any errors or it just never goes? Did you ever check or turn off the Enhanced Tracking Protection? Did you see any 3rd party cookies being blocked? see screenshots Also, check to see what cookies are showing in the bottom left corner of the browser during the issue. I continue to have issues downloading from GD because all changing 3rd party cookies.

Can you try it in Private Browsing Mode?

more options

Using a private window does not help.

Is the pdf private? I cracked out the wife's Macbook Pro running 10.13.6 and have no issue uploading pdfs to GD. The only way to try and replicate is with the same file. If we can't then I'm done.  ;-))

I had no issue uploading the file. Interesting... see screenshot

I guess I'll just live with the situation. Thanks for trying.

Having the file upload successfully once is probably not conclusive. One should be able to do an upload several consecutive times, without the upload stalling.

It will be hard to troubleshoot with nothing to go on.

i ran across "pdftk" this evening and installed it on my computer. I then used it to "repair" my PDF file that was having trouble uploading to Google Drive. The repaired file uploaded multiple times to Google Drive--using Firefox--with no problems. The original pdf that was having problems uploading to Google Drive, continued to have those problems.

Both files appeared the same when viewed with the Mac OS program "preview". They also looked the same with "docview" used within Emacs.

"pdftk" can be found at "https://www.pdflabs.com/tools/pdftk-server/". The installer there for Mac was too old for Mac OS 11.6 (Big Sur). A web search turned up a newer installer at "https://stackoverflow.com/questions/60859527/how-to-solve-pdftk-bad-cpu-type-in-executable-on-mac/60889993#60889993" & that one worked.

The problem PDF file was created from an email, by using the Mac Mail program to export the email to PDF. I then used the "Wondershare PDF Element 8 Pro" program to add some urls to it and to add a callout text box.

More accurately, I did the following with the "Wondershare PDF Element 8 Pro" program, to the PDF file exported from the Mac Mail program:

I modified one URL and added a URL link box and underlined some text in the link box that I had added. I also added a text callout box.

Are you using a SonicWall firewall for your network?

more options

To my knowledge there is no SonicWall firewall on my network. My network is supplied by a Comcast Xfinity subscription and a Netgear cable modem and router. The MacOS System Report says: Firewall Settings:

Mode:	Limit incoming connections to specific services and applications
 Applications:
 ca.roofdog.roadtrip2mac:	Block all connections
 com.apple.garageband10:	Allow all connections
 com.apple.WebKit.Networking:	Allow all connections
 com.RealNetworks.RealPlayer:	Block all connections
 org.mozilla.firefox:	Allow all connections
 Firewall Logging:	Yes
 Stealth Mode:	No

Why do you thinks the firewall is relevant to my problem?
