Is there a way to sync the Google Contact labels with Thunderbird such that I can send emails to a "Google label". I saw a few old posts that suggest that it is not possible but I'm just checking before giving up on Thunderbird.

I tried looking for extensions but the descriptions and detail for those appear to be very minimalistic.

Address Book > New > CardDav Address Book. You then enter your Gmail email address and it goes to Google and performs the OAuth2 dialogs to get your address book there. This should get access to the google contacts/address book

But google contact 'labels' are a different kettle of fish.

I did locate a bug report: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1734915

I'm not sure if this addon would show the 'labels', but you could try it or contact the author and make enquiries. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/cardbook/

Thanks, I've added myself to the bug report's cc list.
