Bad firefox sync instructions for iOS

more options

The instructions are wrong and convoluted. How can I scan a QR code if it is on the iOS device???????? Mozilla just doesn't know how to get around the iOS limitations.

I will no longer use firefox on my iPAD if I can't sync my bookmarks from my Android/Windows bookmarks.

Hi

You enter the website address into Firefox on your other device. That will then display the QR code for your to scan with Firefox for iOS.

“Enter the website”. Makes no sense.

Type the address of the website into a desktop copy of Firefox.

I do not have "Sync and Save Data" option on Firefox on my iPad. My menus do not match instructions posted. How do I actually contact Mozilla employees? Apple iOS has been in use for decades so how is it Mozilla cannot hire people who actually know how iOS works???

What arrogance. If a user is not an experienced iPad/iOS user let’s not give full answers. Not going to use Firefox.

Here's how it looks to me on iPad:

(1) Tap the menu button at the right end of Firefox's toolbar

Item #5 is Sync and Save Data. After you connect to your Mozilla account, this will change to your username.

(2) Tap Sync and Save Data

Firefox displays a panel with two options:

  • Sign In with Your Camera -- you will point your iPad camera at a QR code displayed by your Firefox on Windows (https://firefox.com/pair)
  • Use Email Instead -- sign in with your email address, password and, if set up, 2FA code

Edit: I think that is consistent with the official article: Sync bookmarks, logins and browsing history on Firefox for iOS. Where it says phone, you'll need to substitute tablet.

I do not have the option, "Sync and Save Data". Let's close this request. It is not solved but it will never be solved. Maybe I can return the iPad for a refund.

Thank you,

Ed

If you will permit us one last chance:

Instead of "Sync and Save Data", do you see your name or email address?

Cool. You are signed in to your Mozilla Account. You can tap your address to view/configure Sync.
