My Search toolbar does not work anymore. I can type in it, but it won't let me search. It does nothing when I press Enter or click on the magnifying glass. What can I do?

Before, I would type in a word and press Enter and get results on a page. Now, when I type in the Search toolbar, whether I use Google, Yahoo or any other search engine, I press Enter and nothing happens. I have tried to restore defaults, and to re-download Firefox to no avail.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

I started Firefox in Safe Mode and the search toolbar still does not work. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I am one of those who has never had the google toolbar work as it does on IE; no auto fill, every search I make on google causes firefox to freeze my computer; I really could use spell check per my toolbars on IE, IE may be slow but at least the things I need work. I really would like to speak with a tech to try and resolve this problem before I delete firefox.
