Why does your software prompt me for an upgrade, but it won't perform the upgrade?

I load your software. It tells me that it needs to perform an update. It says it is connecting to the server. It then prompts a progress bar which constantly moves. When I close the Window with the progress bar and go into the help about, it shows that it downloading the software. Then it prompts to apply the changes? When I click on this button, it performs the same prompts again. If I need an upgrade, it needs to apply. What is the issue?

Do a clean (re-)install:

  • Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
  • Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
  • It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
