In Firefox 3.x: 1. Next to the back button was a dropdown list to go back to several prior screens. Now I need to find this in History. This is a nuisance. 2. The tabs are on top rather than the bottom. This is not an improvement, just different, so it's annoying. How can I return to the last version of Firefox 3 and keep all my Bookmarks. Thanks.

Right click the Back / Forward buttons to get a list of sites visited.

You can also install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/

To place tabs below the location bar, right click a blank part of the Tab Bar and then click "Tabs on top" to remove the checkmark.

To reinstate the text links, repeat the initial step and then click "Menu bar"

If you're still unhappy with the result:

Go to Download Firefox v3.6.17 and download it to the desktop.

Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).

Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.

Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.

Great, version 4 sucks.

It is slow and took away a bunch of my options and my favorite addins do not work.

Great. Version 4's back button is so erratic--nowhere near as solid as 3.6.17.
