I can close Firefox with File-exit go back hours later and try to reopen and a box says Firefox is still running but not responding. Program must be closed to reopen. I then have to restart system, this is happening more and more. Can anyone tell me why and what to do about it?

Take a look here. They say this can be due to malwares. I have this same problem running FF on Linux, so malware is not an option to me. The general problem in our case is: closing the FF window isn't enough to end the process associated with it. They also tell about problematic extensions but the problem continues even without any extensions in the browser. Then they tell about glitches and bugs, which I think is more likely to be the case.
