(sent from a library PC) I am using a Dell GX280 with XP Pro SP3, dialup, no microsoft upgrades. Installed Firefox 9.0.1 yesterday. (1) clicking on logo gives a firefox type page not the log in box, (2) selecting a bookmark (google) gives the log in box, the ISP can then be connected (all2easy.net), (3) clicking on the bookmark for google gives the google page (but it says that it is still transferring data for it) -- hangs up at this point. (4) trying any other bookmark gives nothing.

The XP CD from which XP was loaded is about 5 years old.
