Java tells me that I may be use both 32 & 64 bit browsers and that determines which plug-in download I will use. I cannot find where Firefox tells me which browser I have, and I suspect that will also be the case with IE. My OS is 64-bit. Where can I find this info?

mha007 is incorrect as he is thinking about Firefox for Windows when Firefox is still only 32-bit. The Win64-bit builds may not be until Firefox 12.0 or later.

It is well known that Firefox ever since Firefox 4.0 has had 64-bit and 32-bit builds for Mac OSX and Linux.

The Mac .dmg download actually comes with both 64-bit and 32-bit for Intel. For Fx 3.6.* and earlier it was 32-bit builds for Intel and PPC in .dmg.

Your OS maybe 64bit but Firefox has not yet released a stable 64bit version for windows. So you are using Firefox 32bit.

Might not be related to your question but some of your Plugins are out-dated

  • Update All your Firefox Plugins -> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
  • When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)
