At 2243, 03/03/2012 Firefox 10 crashed. I restarted it and selected restore previoius session. It promptly crashed again, so I selected new session and it again crashed on start.

I restarted my machine and tried again, but FF crashed again whetehr trying to resotre session or start new.

I used IE to download Firefox Setup 10.0.2.exe and ran the install, selecting upgrade (I'm pretty sure I was already running the same version). Again, crashes on start.

I tried starting in safe mode (using the shift key) but it still crashes very shortly after start, even with new session.

I have submitted 15 crash reports between 2243 and 2349. I have listed the first and last in the crash ID(s) section. I'll provide all 15 if it will help.

This is my first real problem with FF; there are only 9 other sumbissions in my crash id folder for the period of Oct 2010 until today.

I have not uninstalled and reinstalled FF- I'm hoping to avoid that so as to not lose my settings.

Appreciate any help - don't want to be stuck using IE.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Swarnava, thanks for the reply. FF seems to be working with a new profile, so I guess I'll have to rebuild from there.

Thanks also for the other links. Interstingly (to me anyway) is that I ended up posting here based on following the steps at https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Firefox+crashes . Had my google search taken me to basic troubleshooting first I might have avoided having to post :P

Best regards, KB
