That's a setting in Bing, not Firefox. When you go to www.bing.com:

  1. In the top-right corner, click on Preferences
  2. Along the left side, select Web.
  3. Uncheck Turn suggestions on.

Thanks. I have that unchecked. I'm speaking of when you slide the cursor to the right of a search "hit", an arrow appears along with a bit more detailed text box of the corresponding hit. Seems like the google version was disabled in the [about:config] settings.

That's also a Bing feature. As far as I can tell, there is no setting to disable it, but that's something that the folks at Bing would be better equipped to answer.

I don't know of any Firefox extensions that will disable it either.

Thanks again. I earlier found a way to disable it using the add-on Search Helper Extension 1.0. However, though I have had it for a period of time, it has been blocked. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/i16

As a workaround, you could try http://duckduckgo.com/ :)

D That's what I use now. I like it pretty well. No frills, not as robust but ok.
