Very often when I click on a link in a web site the address will appear in the address bar and the connecting globe is spinning but the new page does bot load unless i put the cursor in the address bar and hit enter again.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).


Another possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

You can also try to repair the places database with this extension:

Followed the advice but it did not correct the problem. I reset Firefox to default settings but that did not help.
