am having pop up ads on every site for "friends", "what are you doing" from women looking for contact. I have never opened such a site and want to block the ads. I have uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it with the same ads showing up. If I don't find a solution I will be going back to IE

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Also, consider doing a Firefox Reset, Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings and installing something like AdBlock Plus to block ads
