I'm not sure exactly what is causing this, but ever since yesterday whenever I visit any webpage there are ads embedded into the text everywhere. At first I thought these were just on the few sites I was on - but I noticed them even on facebook statuses and on my own blog! These ads don't show up on other computers or other browsers on my own computer - so I assume it was something with firefox. I have already tried deleting cookies/cache and re-instalilng Firefox. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Also, to be clear, these ads just look like blue hyperlinks embedded into the text that are double underlined.

UPDATE: I don't know what I did differently - but as of this morning the ads are gone. Very strange, but good none the less.

check out whether you installed any toolbars. Some times it happen because of Toolbars. Toolbars comes with ads and works in background

I've never installed any toolbars to my knowledge - I searched for any on my computer just in case, but nothing came up. Thanks, though.

I attached an image of all the current ad-ons I have. They've all been installed months ago but let me know if maybe they are known to have issues.

This "chosen solution" is 'NOT helpful - are you kidding me! I had to revert to using Internet Explorer which does not have the problem. Come on Firefox - FIX this!

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
