NO RESPONSE TO REPEATED, NORMAL SHUT-DOWN-PROCEDURE: HAVE TO SWITH IT OFF.
FOR TWO DAYS NOW, AT THE END OF THE DAY, MY PC WILL NOT SHUT DOWN WHEN I REPEATEDLY USE THE NORMAL PROCEDURE. I HAVE TO THROW THE ON-OFF SWITCH ON MY TOWER TO SHUT DOWN. SUBSEQUENT START-UP IS NORMAL.

Use "Firefox/File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.
