Several days ago we loaded the "upgrade" to Instant Messenger. Nothing else has changed on my PC. Since then, every time I start the PC, I get the Default 18.0.1 version and have to go find and reload Nautipolis.

Also, in either version, when I open a new Tab, I get a strange group of characters in the address box like this: http://www.[r;;iåvÞyevq¾qîx»òki.com/ and the label in the tab says "Problem loading page" and the screen that says: Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.[r;;iåvÞyevq¾qîx»òki.com

Check the address for typing errors such as
   ww.example.com instead of
   www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
   connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

What is going on and how do I stop it doing both of these irksome actions?

I have Windows XP and Firefox 18.0.1

update:

Tried resetting firefox in the troubleshooting menu. When it was finished, I added a new theme, reloaded most of the extensions I used before and set all the options to what I liked.

However after a system reboot Firefox STILL

1. Switches to it's default theme even tho the new theme says it's active. I have to manually enable the original theme, restart firefox, enable the new theme and restart again to get it looking how I want.

2. Forgets the homepage I set up. I manually have to set that up again.

3. All options reset so I have to redo those, including turning off hardware accel so Firefox doesn't crash several times a day.

Some input as to why this is going on would be greatly appreciated.

That would be a question for the Nautipolis developer.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nautipolis-for-firefox/

In the right-column there is a Support E-mail hyperlink.

I have just sent the author of Nautipolis an email covering the problem.
