I am getting tired of the constant reminders to upgrade Firefox to 19. I have no intention of upgrading because according to the reports, I will lose my Norton Toolbar and I use it several times a day, at least. I can't/won't upgrade to a version that will be incompatible to the add-ons I need. The pop-ups ask me to "Upgrade Now," or "Ask Me Later." I don't want to upgrade now, and I don't want to be asked later! How can I get Firefox to leave me alone?

hello, please update as soon as possible. the norton toolbar is compatible with firefox 19. as always norton makes its compatibility update for the toolbar available at the same time as a new firefox version is released. please run the symantec liveupdate & make sure that all components are up-to-date or for more information refer to https://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/Firefox-19-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/td-p/912951

I don't think those will work because the patches specify they're for Norton 2013 and Norton 2012, and I have Norton 2011. When my subscription renews later this year, then I should have the newer version. Until then, there are no instructions for the 2011.

as far as i understand it, while you're an active norton subscriber you can upgrade your product to the latest product line: http://updatecenter.norton.com/?NUCLANG=en

Well, I followed all of the instructions, and my Norton toolbar is now gone along with all of my stored passwords and identity cards. I upgraded my Norton to the newest version, and I upgraded to Firefox 19.0. I even re-booted 4 times to make sure everything "took," per the instructions. What a mistake!!! Upgrading the Norton erased everything and now I can't get the toolbar back because of the Firefox update! According to the Add-ons, the toolbar is NOT compatible with 19.0 even though I have the newest version of Norton. Now what? (The link you provided doesn't have any clickable patches.)

i cannot give you more detailed guidance as is alreadys described in the link since i don't use norton myself. in case you don't get version 2013.3.1.3 of the toolbar which is referenced there by running live-update repeatedly, please contact norton's support to get their product to work as specified.

Update: I finally got the toolbar "back" after running the Live Update 4 additional times and rebooting after each. But it's a different toolbar with a lot of crap I really don't want, like the FB share button. And there are 2 icons to do the job 1 did before, making it really confusing. The old toolbar had just 2 icons, one for cards & logins, and the other for "Safe Web." Unfortunately, as I understand it, Norton won't allow us to edit the toolbar. What really aggravated me was that after all of this work and frustration, all of my logins and ID cards reverted to ones entered 2 years ago, and all of my more recent information & logins are gone. I can't contact Norton Support without getting a rep in Dubai who at least in the past has made matters 10 times worse, and that's IF they even understood my question. I hate to lose the login benefit of the toolbar, but it looks like I'll be heading to Cnet of McAfee. Thanks for everyone's help . . . my frustration never was with you, it's been with Norton. I wish I'd just left everything alone.

donsor,

Run the Norton Live Update repeatedly until those Norton extensions for Firefox get updated to the latest version available from Norton. As the Owner of this thread mentioned it took her 4 Live Update runs for the latest update to be installed. Other Norton users have reported similar issues with needing the run Live Update many times to get all the updates to be installed.

You replied in a solved thread that's almost six months old. In this case, the solution was to contact Norton about upgrading their software since the reason the original poster didn't want to update Firefox was fear of losing access to the Norton Toolbar.
