Setting up my new macbook pro and I went to install the firefox download currently available on the mozilla site and I double-click the firefox .dmg download file and a window pops up and says "The following disk images cannot be opened. Firefox20-1.0.dmg. Reason: not recognized.

Nothing else comes up as an option.

What should I do?

Thanks

Steve

Hi,

I downloaded the file following your link, but now firefox doesn't play flash files. It says plugin needed or sometimes there's a black screen where the flash file is located.

However other browsers like Chrome and safari play the files perfectly fine.

What should I do?

Thanks,

Steve

Try to delete the pluginreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder and maybe addons.sqlite as well to reset the plugin registry databases.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder

See "Re-initializing the plugins database": https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-issues-with-plugins-fix-problems
