FF v28 loads very slow even on a screamingly fast brand new PC, hardly anything loaded on the OS. Patched Win7 640-bit and still slow.
IE10 and Chrome load uber fast, but FF takes forever.. even disabled everything and it still loads slow.

SUCCESS!! I figured it out... At least in terms of getting the performance to match IE & Chrome's launch start-up time.
In Options > Advanced > disabled (unchecked) the option: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
Odd this would affect it since I have a fast machine AND a GeForce 760 GTX video card with current drivers.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

I'm no noobie to this.. I know how to support software issues. Done all the usual optimizations and chrome and IE load ultra fast..Firefox white screens for a few seconds when launched before it loads it's homepage. Even switched home pages, no change. Google is the home page, so there is almost nothing to slow it down .. everything points to v28 is just slowly built.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
See:
Added to firewall and set to allow/enabled -- no improvement.
Disabled firewall and then launched firefox again, still no improvement.. IE & Chrome are like so fast they are almost instantly loaded.. its only firefox that has a blank white screen delay in loading up to the home page. All three browsers are set to open home page google but only FF load slowly.
