I have a laptop with a monitor attached - both the laptop monitor and external monitor are used as separate desktops. I have Firefox set to open on the external monitor, but it does not remember the last window size: it always opens to the size of the laptop monitor. Firefox is the only program that exhibits this behavior. I have reset, uninstalled and re-installed, yet the same behavior continues. Before re-installing, I've made sure to delete any left over Mozilla/Firefox folders.

You may have a corrupt localstore.rdf file.

Open a new tab or window. type about:support in the address box and press enter. Or Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Then Help > Troubleshooting Information.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

it's not the rdf file. When I uninstalled Firefox, I also searched for all of the leftover Firefox folders and deleted every one of them. That included the folder where the rdf file is located.

Upon a new installation, Firefox just reverted back to its previous way of opening. Even deleting the current rdf file does nothing.

I'm currently running a fresh install of Firefox, with nothing added - it started with this behavior right after the installation.

The only other I do know is this behavior started many versions ago, probably around 20 or so, but I just dealt with it. However, I decided on a fresh install for other reasons, but this problem persists. There was a time when Firefox did not exhibit this behavior.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware. Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is and what it does. Also, check the programs that are on your computer

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder Linux: options depends on the package manager and the desktop environment

Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't know what it is, use a web search.

Are you even reading what I'm saying? I said I'm running Firefox RIGHT NOW without any extensions - it is a fresh installation and still has this issue.

There is no malware on my system, nor do I have any of the symptoms listed on that page (Troubleshoot Firefox Issues Caused By Malware). This is confirmed by scans by Norton and MalwareBytes.
